New Naruto Shippuden title sneaks to the top spot in Japan

New Bandai Namco Naruto title Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 debuted at No.1 in Japan, according to data from Famitsu.

The game sold 55,414 units in its first week on shelves, and was the only new title to launch in the region last week. Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 was also released in the UK last week and charted in third place.

It charts ahead of last week’s top dog, Dragon Quest Builders.

The Vita SKU of Square Enix’s Minecraft-like title is still the best performing, with 46,219 units sold during the week, a 73 per cent drop in sales week-on-week. The PlayStation 4 edition charts in fourth place, shifting 32,274 copies.

Nintendo’s latest Mario Tennis game falls one place week-on-week and charted at No.4.

Over in the hardware charts, the PlayStation 4 was the best-performing console of the week shifting 32,181 units. Last week’s No.1, the PlayStation Vita, falls to second place as sales decline for the Vita edition of Dragon Quest Builders. Sales dipped 43 per cent over the week.
