Graphics chip giant Nvidia says the new tech offers current netbooks with ten times the graphics performance

Nvidia reveals next-gen Ion graphics processors

Nvidia has unveiled an update to its Ion line of graphics processors, which it claims will provide netbooks with ten times the graphics performance.

PCR reports that new range of processors could drive a new wave of netbooks and entry-level devices that can capably play and display games built on agile, undemanding platforms such as Flash.

Apparently, the GPU will also enable up to ten hours of battery life thanks to Optimus technology, which only turns on more power hungry discrete graphics as and when required.

As well as in netbooks, the GPU will also be available on small form factor desktops, “barebones” systems, motherboards, and discrete add-in cards. 30 products in total are expected to launch this summer, pre-loaded with the technology.
