Steam and GOG feel the Force for Star Wars

With Star Wars looking likely to become THE entertainment property of 2015, the video game hype continues with two big digital retail promotions.

Having arrived digitally for the first time via GOG last October, four X-Wing games are now available on Steam – X-Wing Special Edition, TIE Fighter Special Edition, X-Wing vs TIE Fighter, and X-Wing Alliance.

They form part of what Steam is calling its May the 4th Be With You sale, which offers discounts on an assortment of Star Wars titles including Empire at War, Knights of the Old Republic, The Force Unleashed, LEGO Star Wars, The Jedi knight series and many more.

Not to be outdone, GOG has added two more LucasArts Star Wars titles to its catalogue – Star Wars: Rebel Assault and Star Wars Rebel Assault II.

The CD-ROM versions of X-Wing and TIE Fighter have also been added and are available as free upgrades to those who purchased the previous versions. These will both apparently remain exclusive to GOG.
