Ubisoft rules the June charts

June was a big month for Ubisoft.

Last month’s charts included the last week of May and therefore featured the launch of Watch Dogs.

The hacking title topped the monthly charts, and helped Ubisoft rise up the publisher rankings in terms of both units sold and revenue generated from software sales. It deposed long-time top dog EA for the month.

In total 2.1m units were shifted in June, a 14 per cent increase on last year.

Meanwhile 70m was generated by software sales – a whopping 56 per cent more than June 2013.

Of all the games sold in June, 32.8 per cent of them were Ubisoft’s and 44.1 per cent of software sale revenue came from the publisher’s titles.

This makes for pleasant reading – June can be a rather quiet month with few releases. Publishers are scared of their games being lost in the noise surrounding E3 and therefore not many titles hit stores.

Below are the Top Ten games for the period between May 25th and June 28th:

1. Watch Dogs (Ubisoft)
2. Mario Kart 8 (Nintendo)
3. Wolfenstein: The New Order (Bethesda)
4. FIFA 14 (EA)
5. Titanfall (EA)
6. Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition (Sony)
7. 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil (EA)
8. EA Sports UFC (EA)
9. Call of Duty: Ghosts (Activision)
10. Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition (Microsoft)
