Reviews are coming in for the Dell Venue 8 tablet, a device that shows the power of Intel-powered tablets running Windows 8.1. The Verge said: “The promise of Intel’s latest Bay Trail processor is better performance and battery life. Dell’s Venue 8 Pro certainly delivers on both.”
The Dell Venue 8 features an Intel Atom processor Z3740 (1.3GHz Quad-Core) which gives it PC-like performance and the ability to run the full version of Windows 8.1. While many tablets are used purely for consuming media, devices that run the full version of Windows 8.1 can be used for productivity, and could even replace laptops and primary computers. Many Windows 8 tablets also offer docking stations, Miracast wireless display and digitising stylus support, further boosting your productivity and connectivity options. You can also boost the storage capacity with microSD support.
Not only are Windows 8.1 tablets proving useful as laptop replacements for tasks like presentations and mobile working (often coming packed with Microsoft Office), but they are no slouch when it comes to graphical performance as well. In Babylon.js testing, the Dell Venue 8 was shown to give an impressive framerate (just shy of a consistent 30fps), which really showcases the power.
