PewDiePie Productions made $7.45m in 2014

YouTube star PewDiePie continues to ascend to new financial heights, doubling his earnings in the last year.

A report from Swedish newspaper Expressen, as spotted by Neogaf and reported by Destructoid, says that Felix Kjellberg’s company PewDiePie Productions made in excess of $7.45m in 2014.

Last year it was reported that the star was making in the region of $4m a year, pointing to decent growth for the Swede in the last 12 months.

As Destructoid points out, Kjellberg works pretty hard for his cash. He has to date produced over 2,300 videos, does a lot of charity work and is soon to become a published author. He may not be to everyone’s tastes, but his mass appeal remains indisputable.

PewDiePie was the single most watched person on YouTube in 2014, attracting 4.1bn views and growing to 33.5 subscribers (he’s added a further 4m in the first half of 2015, too). In March he was featured in Time’s ‘The 30 Most Influential People on the Internet’ list.
