The world’s most popular YouTuber, PewDiePie, released his first mobile game last week and already it is at the top of the mobile charts.
PewDiePie Tuber Simulator, which was developed by Outerminds, is currently sat at the number one spot in the iOS free to download charts in the UK and has topped multiple other charts in multiple countries over the last few days.
Currently sat just outside highest grossing apps on the UK iOS app store, the game is a resounding success and is the most downloaded game for iPhone, according to data tracking firm Sensor Tower.
In fact the game proved so popular that the servers were unable to handle all the new sign ups, resulting in many players being unable to access the game during the first few days after launch.
Tuber Simulator is not too dissimilar to Kairosoft’s Game Dev Story. Players start out as a simple ‘tuber’ and must rise their way through the video creation ranks, bringing in more viewers and subscribers until they can rival PewDiePie himself. Players can purchase new items for their room which will give a boost in numbers and help them progress quicker. These are purchased with the in game currency, Bux, which in turn can be purchased for real money.
