Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire shift 3m copies in three days

The cult of Pokemon continues with news of a strong launch for the brand’s newest pair of games.

Siliconera reports that Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire have between them sold 3.04m copies in Japan, the US and a handful of other territories in just three days.

Famitsu revealed that the pair’s Japanese week one sales reached 1.5m units. Both games arrive in Europe this Friday (November 28th).

The two previous titles in the series, Pokemon X and Y, sold over 4m copies in two days, although that included one day’s worth of European sales.

The news carries on Nintendo’s recent software successes with Super Smash Bros Wii U selling half a million units in the US (on top of the 3DS version shifting 1m units in its first week in Japan) and Mario Kart 8 nearing 3m unit sales.
