PS4 firmware update adds 3D Blu-ray support

The latest firmware update for PlayStation 4 is out now, adding 3D Blu-ray support and a new Featured Content” automatic download option.

PlayStation Europe community manager Chris Owen took to Twitter to announced the patch’s release, pointing out a few new key features in the notes such as the 3D Blu-ray functionality.

The same feature is expected to land on Xbox One as part of August’s system update.

The PS4 update also includes the option to automatically download Featured Content” from PlayStation Store – basically free content like demos and time-limited trials of newly available titles.

The patch packs sound quality improvements and tweaks to system messages as well.
