Reports in the UK suggest that Sony is considering a price of around 300 for the PlayStation 4.
"Industry sources and leaked internal documents suggest that Sony is considering pricing the new device at about 300," said a report by The Times.
That price is over 100 less than the PS3’s launch price and translates to a little over Rs 25,000 (direct conversion).
It’s worth noting that Sony prices PlayStation consoles in India based on the Euro pricing, and we would expect it to cost a little more than a direct Euro-Rupee conversion.
That said, if there’s any truth to this report, early adopters in India will surely pay a lot less for the PS4 than they did for the PS3, which first hit the Indian market at an absurd Rs 39,999.
Sony is expected to reveal the PS4 at an event in New York on 21st February. That’s 4:30 am on Thursday for us in India. The event will be live-streamed by Sony.
