PS4 priced Rs 45,000 in India, launch in late-December, says retailer Landmark

Update: Landmark has estimated the PlayStation 4 will be priced around Rs 45,000 in India. While the retailer hasn’t confirmed this as the official price, it has been telling inquiring customers to expect a price in that range.

The Rs 45,000 price for the PS4 is in line with what we’ve been hearing from various sources in the distribution and retail channels as well, so it now seems like only a matter of time before Sony India makes it official.

In an interview with IVG earlier this year, PlayStation India head Atindriya Bose had hoped from a price of around Rs 40,000, but refused to rule out the possibility of it creeping up.

Landmark is also pretty confident that the console will launch in late December in India (see image below), which seemed to us like a distant possibility considering we’re already at the end of November with no announcement from Sony.

Original story

Retailer Landmark has commenced preorders for the PlayStation 4 and told customers that the console will release in India in December.

PlayStation India head Atindriya Bose had said a few months ago that the PS4 would release in India within this calendar yea, but raised doubts over a 2013 release after Gamescom. While PS4 release dates for most of the world have been announced, Sony India has remained quiet on the matter.

Landmark is accepting preorders with a Rs 1,499 advance payment, much like Game4u and Snapdeal have been doing for a while, but Landmark is the first retailer to announce a December release for the console.

Prebook your PlayStation4 now at Landmark. Pay Rs 1,499 and reserve your copy. Release late December 2013 in India,” the retailer tweeted, and then reiterated, It is correct. You will get PS4 in India late December.”

We’ve contacted Sony for comment on Landmark’s announcement, and while it has refused to comment on previous rumours, it has suggested that PS4 launch details for India could be announced by the first week of December, before the console launches in Dubai and Hong Kong and begins to flood local grey markets.
