£149 PS4s are everywhere

A number of UK retailers are today offering the launch version of the PS4 for just 149.

Tesco, Smyths, Argos, Game, John Lewis and ShopTo have all gone live with 149 offers for the pre-slim 500GB version of he PS4 bundled with a game. In most instances it’s new release FIFA 17, although plenty of outlets also seem to be offering LEGO Star Wars as an alternative.

The 1TB version of the older machine has been cut to 179, too.

The deals vary according to the retailer. Argos, for instance, is also chucking in Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Blu-ray. Amazon was offering the deal but already seems to be out of stock.

Undoubtedly the offer is an attempt to clear out legacy stock of the older hardware as Sony looks to push both the recently released 259 slim PS4 and, of course, October’s 349 PS4 Pro.

It may be, however, that the move is also linked to Xbox’s recent dominance in the UK hardware market, as reported MCV this morning.
