360 tipped for Stereoscopic 3D

Microsoft will announce at E3 that it is to introduce full stereoscopic 3D support on the Xbox 360, Eurogamer claims.

Xbox 360 already runs a number of 3D titles such as Black Ops and Crysis 2, but until now they haven’t run on true stereoscopic tech. This new update would mean the machine would output a full 720p image to each eye.

Sony’s PS3, of course, made a big song and dance about the introduction of stereoscopic 3D last year and already has a host of compatible titles including Killzone 3 and Gran Turismo 5.

"The machine is not only very capable, it’s more capable than the PlayStation 3 of doing stereo," an anonymous source stated. [That’s] assuming you don’t have one of the old crappy ones with the composite leads… assuming you have a HDMI Xbox.

"The bottleneck is more on the graphical throughput for rendering out in stereo. E3 is coming up. Microsoft is going to have to go on stage to say something, aren’t they?"
