A new report entitled Stereoscopic 3D Gaming has predicted that over 40m 3D-capable displays will be installed in households around the world by 2014.
Its conclusion is seemingly based on both the fact that 3D films are currently outperforming their 2D variants on a revenue per screen basis and extensive testing of the first generation of 3D games.
We have played Stereoscopic 3D games for hundreds of hours and our experience leads us to believe that S-3D gaming is more immersive and compelling than traditional gaming on a 2D screen,” lead analyst Dale H. Maunu stated.
We spoke directly with gamers, game developers, and game publishers as well as display makers to build a complete picture of the future of gaming, along the way going from sceptical middle-age display veterans to 3D gaming fanboys.”
The full report, which examines the various 3D technologies available and development requirements for 3D games, can be purchased here at a cost of $5,000.
