Assassin’s Creed anime confirmed

The producer of the upcoming Castlevania anime series has confirmed that his next project will be a series based on Ubisoft IP Assassin’s Creed.

I’m happy to let you guys know that I’ve selected my next project,” Adi Shankar said. I played the first edition of Assassin’s Creed the year I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dream.

At that moment I knew absolutely no one in the industry and could never have imagined that one day Ubisoft would ask me to take the world of Assassin’s Creed and create an original story set in it as an anime series. If anyone tells you not to follow your passion in life they are wrong.”

Whether the term ‘original’ story means we’re going to be looking at a new cast or setting or whether the project might be based on an established game in the series remains to be seen.

Shankar’s Castlevania series was announced in February and will debut on Netflix tomorrow (July 7th).

Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself,” the official descriptions reads.

The animated series is from Frederator Studios, a Wow! Unlimited Media company, written by best-selling author and comic book icon Warren Ellis and executive produced by Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert and Adi Shankar.”

Shankar said of Castlevania: This is very much Castlevania done in the vein of Game of Thrones. It’s going to be R-rated as f***.”
