Paid-for service garners $65m for EA

Battlefield 3 Premium subscriptions hit 1.3m

Battlefield 3 premium subscriptions have surppased 1.3million.

The service, which offers customers access to all DLC packs for the hit first person shooter, is a major part of the publisher’s new all-digital strategy.

“We continue to make progress in our goal of becoming the leading digital entertainment company,” said President of EA Labels Frank Gibeau.

“Over the last twelve months, we generated over $1.3 billion in non-GAAP digital net revenue, and approximately two-thirds of our non-GAAP net revenue in the first fiscal quarter was in digital."

Based on the $50 fee, this would mean the publishing giant had garnered $65 million from the service.

This is up $25 million from the start up the month when EA revealed that the premium subscription service had accrued 800,000 users.

At time of writing EA share prices have climbed eighteen cents in after-hours trading.
