Bethesda announces $30 Fallout 4 Season Pass… but no content

A Season Pass has been announced for Fallout 4, even though Bethesda does not yet know what DLC it will make for the game.

We’ve always done a lot of DLC for our games. We love making them and you always ask us for more,” the company said. To reward our most loyal fans, this time we’ll be offering a Season Pass that will get you all of the Fallout 4 DLC we ever do for just $30.

Since we’re still hard at work on the game, we don’t know what the actual DLC will be yet, but it will start coming early next year. Based on what we did for Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Skyrim, we know that it will be worth at least $40, and if we do more, you’ll get it all with the Season Pass.”

As affronted as some consumers are likely to be by the news, there are a couple of things to consider.

Firstly, Bethesda’s track record of DLC is really very good. Fallout 3 got five decent sized DLC releases. Much the same treatment was given to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, so there’s no reason to suspect whatever it does come up with will be any the less significant.

Secondly, in an age where publishers often plan out their ‘post-release’ DLC before the game is even announced and develop the content alongside the main release, the fact that Fallout 4’s DLC will quite literally compliment the fully-rounded retail product should perhaps be applauded.
