Big TV push for Game of Thrones game

The Game of Thrones console and PC spin-off will be backed by ‘high-profile’ TV advertisements.

And rightly so, because the game is the adaptation of a popular Sky Atlantic show.

The action RPG – published by Focus Home Interactive and distributed to retail by Koch Media this June – will also receive an ‘extensive specialist and lifestyle print campaign’.

Retailers will have access to in-store point-of-sale materials, while social media activity will take place on Facebook, YouTube, specialist and lifestyle websites.

A three-month PR campaign will cover mainstream publications.

We’re excited for the acquisition of Game of Thrones,” Koch Media’s head of UK sales for publishing Greg Whalley told MCV. Not only will the game appeal to the loyal fanbase, but the strength of the code and the story will also appeal to the vast amount of RPG fans we have in the UK.

It’s one of the hottest fantasy brands. The season one box set reached No.2 in the DVD chart, and season two kicked off on TV recently.

With the target release date in line with the season finale, there is no better time to hit the market with this. The game’s broad appeal will ensure Game of Thrones is stocked across multiple retail channels, from specialist to grocery.”

Game of Thrones will be available on Xbox 360 and PS3 for 44.99. The PC SKU has an RRP of 29.99.
