BioWare ‘working around the clock’ to improve Mass Effect Andromeda

The developers of new RPG Mass Effect Andromeda have told fans that their concerns are being listened to.

The BioWare RPG has had a bit of a rough time of it since release, with parts of the fanbase complaining about the character models and animation. Character’s eyes, in particular, have been a sore point, while GIFs of comedy walking and reactions have spread like wildfire across the internet. There have also been a lot of complaints about the voice acting and script.

Now BioWare has spoken out to assure fans that steps will be taken to address these issues.

"It’s been a week since we officially launched Mass Effect: Andromeda worldwide, and we couldn’t be more excited that our fans are finally experiencing everything we’ve worked so hard to create,” the studio said via Twitter.

We’ve received quite a bit of feedback, some of it positive and some of it critical. That feedback is an important part of our ongoing support of the game, and we can’t wait to share more of our immediate plans with you on Tuesday April 4th.

In the meantime, keep your feedback coming. Our team is listening, working around the clock to gather information and plan out solutions to improve and build on Mass Effect: Andromeda. Thanks for your continued support and for joining us on this journey."

ME: Andromeda currently boasts 76 per cent Metacritic ratings on both Xbox One and PC, and 73 per cent of PS4. That doesn’t compare especially well to the critical reception afforded to its predecessors. On Xbox 360, for instance, Mass Effect, ME2 and ME3 scored 91 per cent, 96 per cent and 93 per cent respectively.

ME: Andromeda unsurprisingly shot straight to the top of the UK Top 40 in its first week of sale in the UK.

The game become the third biggest launch of the year behind Ghost Recon: Wildlands and Horizon Zero Dawn, although it claimed only the third best week one for a Mass Effect game, beating just the first title in the series, which released exclusively on Xbox 360 back in November 2007 and debuted in 12th.

Both Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 also hit No.1 in their first weeks, the latter being the first to launch simultaneously across PlayStation, Xbox and PC. 55 per cent of Andromeda’s sales were on PS4, with 41 per cent on Xbox One and four per cent on PC – although all these numbers exclude digital, of course.
