Virtual reality headset finally set to ship to the public

Consumer Oculus Rift gets a release window

Oculus will open sales for its consumer Rift headset later this year, with a view to shipping in Q1 2016.

The firm has teased a first look at the new virtual reality headset, which you can view in the main image above.

The consumer VR headset is said to build on the Crescent Bay prototype with an improved tracking system that supports both seated and standing experiences. It also claims to offer a more natural fit from previous iterations.

Oculus will be revealing more details around the hardware, software, input and upcoming games for the Rift in the coming weeks.
