One week left for aspiring teams looking to kick start their career with a gaming BAFTA win

Dare to be Digital deadline nears

There is just one week left for fledgling studios to apply to enter the Dare to be Digital 2012 games development competition.

The contest brings together 15 development teams to spend a summer making games at the University of Abertay Dundee working under the guidance of industry professionals. After the finished games are showcased to the public and expert judges, the competition culminates with three winning teams put forward to compete for the BAFTA ‘Ones to Watch’ award.

“I think people should enter Dare to be Digital because it is a great opportunity for students who are keen to break into the games industry," said
said Sophia George, who headed up the BAFTA-winning team from Dare 2011. "I feel the experience was priceless and I met so many wonderful people.”

“Dare is a life-changing opportunity for students looking to step into the games industry," added Elaine Russell, Dare to be Digital project manager. “Coming to Abertay University for a summer to work solidly on your own game, which then goes on show to thousands of members of the public, is an amazing experience.

“If you love games and want to make them for a living, then apply to take part in Dare to be Digital 2012.”

Those interested in entering can do so at the competition’s official website.
