Treyarch was the world’s most bankable studio this month, beating high-profile competitors such as Fallout 4 dev Bethesda and Star Wars Battlefront studio EA DICE.
Its success is shared by sister studio Beenox further down the list, which helped develop the Xbox 360 and PS3 ports of Call of Duty: Black Ops III.
Below is Develop’s breakdown of the world’s most successful games studios, measured by UK revenue at retail, with data provided by GfK Chart-Track.
Please note that digital sales are not included in the calculations, nor are retail transactions made outside the UK. The chart is intended to provide a snapshot of the most bankable studios in the world today.
Develop will be publishing its own list, encompassing not only digital but also mobile revenues on a worldwide basis, in the tenth anniversary edition of The Develop 100.
The list is fairly predictable given the usual Q4 blockbuster hits arriving on console; FIFA and Assassin’s Creed studios EA Canada and Ubisoft Quebec both rank highly.
Traveller’s Tales is the only UK studio in the Top 10, holding onto a spot thanks to the success of new toys-to-life brand Lego Dimensions.
