US social games studio Disruptor Beam has completed a round of Series A funding that has netted the firm $3.2m.
The company is best known for its mobile and browser social game Game of Thrones Ascent, which lets players run their own holdfast in the world of Westeros and participate in the saga’s events.
New equity investors Midverse Studios and GrandBanks Capital were the biggest contributors to this round of funding, according to GamesIndustry.
Others include CommonAngels and Romulus Capital – both previous investors – and Harmonix founders Alex Rigopulos and Eran Egozy, as well as other angel investors.
The funds will be used on the development of Disruptor Beam’s second big game, Star Trek Timelines. The studio also hopes to licence additional IP for future projects and recruit more staff.
"These latest investments will help us to further deliver on our vision of creating the most community-centric game company in the world," said CEO and founder Jon Radoff. "We build games based on entertainment brands that have the most engaged fan communities. And, we see these communities as just as important as the games themselves.
"For these reasons, we’re in the process of developing a community platform that will allow cross-game social capabilities and one that will enable players to connect with one another in new, innovative ways."
