Doom makes Xbox Live comeback

Iconic ‘90s FPS Doom has returned to Xbox Live Arcade today after being absent for more than a year.

Bethesda has re-uploaded the game to Xbox 360’s online service, and it can be downloaded for 400 Microsoft Points (around 3.50).

Doom originally hit Xbox Live in 2006 via Activision, but developer id Software was acquired by Bethesda parent ZeniMax in 2009. Activision’s rights expired and thus the game was removed in late 2010.

But with Bethesda relaunching Doom on XBLA today, gamers can again take part in online matches, co-op gameplay and leaderboards.

Bethesda says Doom is also available on Xbox Live in Germany, where the game’s ban was finally lifted last September.
