343 Industries preparing ultimate Halo package ahead of Halo 5 Guardians

E3 2014: Halo 2 remastered for Anniversary edition, Master Chief Collection revealed

With Halo 5 Guardians still in production, Microsoft has prepared plenty of other releases to keep Master Chief fans occupied.

This November, the studio will mark the 10th anniversary of Halo 2 with a special re-release made specifically for Xbox One. Similar to the anniversary edition of the first title, this will recreate the original release and allow players to switch between the classic and the remake with a single button.

Halo 2: Anniversary will include all of the iconic multiplayer maps and features, as well as six remastered maps made for Xbox One.

Also due this year is the Master Chief Collection, a single-disc Xbox One game that contains Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4. All of these games run at 1080p in their original engines, with dedicated servers for the multiplayer modes and every map ever released for them – more than 100 arenas.

The Master Chief Collection is being positioned as a precursor to Halo 5, and will include Halo: Nightfall, the live action series by Hollywood director Ridley Scott that serves as a prequel to the next outing.

It will also include a beta for the Halo 5 Guardians multiplayer.

The Master Chief Collection and Halo 2: Anniversary were unveiled by 343 Industries studio head Bonnie Ross during Xbox’s E3 2014 press conference.
