Co-op game due on virtual reality devices this autumn

E3 2016: Red Storm resurfaces with Star Trek VR

The games development studio formed by author Tom Clancy has re-emerged as the team behind a brand new Star Trek game built specifically for virtual reality.

During Ubisoft’s E3 2016 press confernece, the publisher unveiled Star Trek: Brigde Crew for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR. Well, we say ‘unveiled’, but it was leaked earlier today – as reported by MCV.

The game requires players to co-operate to command a Federation starship on a series of missions. The game is built for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR, and due out this autumn.

Bridge Crew gives players the choice of manning various bridge stations, including tactical, helm and engineering. Players use VR motion controls to activate the various functions of their station as they maintain ship systems, defend themselves against attack and destroy enemy craft.

The game appears to be set in the JJ Abrams reboot era of Star Trek, rather than the classic TV era, boasting much of the same design as the recent movies.

Red Storm has been co-developing Ubisoft titles such as Far Cry, The Division and Ghost Recon for the last nine years. Its last solo project was Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 back in 2007.
