EA predicts 90%+ reviews for Crysis 2

Publisher EA is so confident about the quality of its upcoming shooter Crysis 2 that it has already declared that the game wills gain a 90 per cent plus review average with critics.

It’s going to be another 90 rated game from Crytek,” EA Partners boss David DeMartini told Eurogamer.

There’s a lot of information that will be forthcoming with regards to the depth, the number of multiplayer modes and the maps. I can say there’s an entire team that’s working on multiplayer alone for that game in England, so you can imagine how strong it will be.”

DeMartini went on to counter claims that Crysis 2 saw its release date pushed back to Q1 2011 so as to avoid what is a very FPS-heavy quarter this Christmas.

It didn’t slip into March, but we both had aspirations of trying to release it sooner than that,” he admitted. It wasn’t going to be ready for that. With the guys at Crytek, it’s quality, quality, quality.

A game like Crysis and a team like Crytek’s never going to be intimidated by being in any window. But they will always be very careful of not releasing a game until it reaches its full potential. As we collaboratively evaluated when’s the right time for it to be ready, March 22nd was the perfect window for the game to hit its maximum potential.

I would say we jointly agreed that was the ideal window for the game to ship in. With a game like Crysis you don’t worry so much about who’s shipping when. You pick your ideal window and you lock down and everybody else can move if they have to move.”
