EA unveils the next Need for Speed… and it’s for mobiles and tablets

The name of the next Need for Speed title has been revealed – but it’s the platforms that it is in development for that’s of the most interest.

EA has revealed Need for Speed: No Limits, which is coming soon” to smartphones and tablets.

Furthermore, it’s being made by Firemonkeys, which is the team behind the successful Real Racing series.

Also on board is Ken Block of Colin McRae: Dirt 2 and Dirt 3 fame.

We’ve built No Limits from the ground up to deliver the insanely-fast driving and incredible graphics that fans have come to expect from Need for Speed – all in the palm of your hand,” he game’s executive producer Robert Huebner said.

The team at Firemonkeys has also been bringing Need for Speed to mobile gamers for years, and it’s an honour and a privilege to once again get behind the wheel of this incredible franchise and redefine street racing on mobile.

We’re constantly amazed by the power and performance we’re able to get out of the latest phones and tablets and think you will be too.”

This year is the first since 1996 that EA hasn’t released a new Need for Speed game on consoles, with a Complete Edition of Need for Speed Rivals attempting to fill the void.
