Amazon has announced that pre-orders for EA’s Battlefield 3 are currently tracking at 2,302 per cent above Battlefield 2.
It’s an early vindication of the time and money EA has already put into its marketing activity. It seems that the risk of going so early with the hugely expensive FA Cup ad in April has paid off.
Of course, EA knows how much more it has to do if it wishes to challenge the expected dominance of Activision’s Modern Warfare 3.
Pre-orders for that game are up 321 per cent compared to predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops. Not as big a jump as Battlefield, of course, but note that Black Ops currently stands as the best selling game of all time.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is up 488 per cent compared to Among Thieves, Gears of War 3 is up 216 per cent on Gears of War 2 and Batman: Arkham City is up 349 per cent on Arkham Asylum.
