Epic buys People Can Fly, but Bulletstorm dev’s founder leaves

Epic Games has bought the remaining stake in Bulletstorm and Gears of War: Judgment developer People Can Fly.

Epic already owned a majority stake in the Polish developer, and with this move, the studio is now wholly owned by Gears of War and Unreal creator Epic.

The acquisition has had some negative side effects, however. The studio’s founder and creative director Adrian Chmielarz has left the company, but Epic vice-president Mark Rein told Polygon that Epic may somehow be involved in Chmielarz’s future plans.

People Can Fly is currently working on Gears of War: Judgment the first spin-off in Epic’s third-person shooter franchise. The game is scheduled for release on 19th March, 2013.
