Boss Alien, Thechineseroom, Kinesthetic Games and Simteractive all set to take to the stage

First Develop Conference speakers confirmed

The first wave of speakers confirmed to be taking to the stage to July’s Develop in Brighton conference hail from Boss Alien, Thechineseroom, Kinesthetic Games and Simteractive.

Boss Alien’s Jason Avent, Thechineseroom’s Dan Pinchbeck, Kinesthetic Games’ Kostas Zarifis and Simteractive’s Elaine Reynolds will discuss topics as diverse as studio growth and lessons learned from Kickstarter failures.

"2013 is a critical year for games development: new consoles, new technology and new markets inevitably mean change, but in this industry change equals creativity and new opportunities and that’s incredibly exciting," stated Andy Lane, managing director of Develop in Brighton organiser Tandem Events.

1,600 developers are expected to head to Develop in Brighton, which in 2013 celebrates its eighth year.

the conference takes place from July 9th to 11th at Brighton’s Hilton Metropole. Over 100 speakers are readying themselves to speak in panels, sessions and workshops across the following nine tracks: Art, Audio, Business, Coding, Design, Evolve, Production, Indie Dev Day and Indie Dev Marketing.

A statement to the press from Tandem confirms the topics of discussion set for the first four talks:

• Jason Avent – Boss Alien – will reveal how to make the leap from console to mobile game development, stay in business and do it successfully.

• Dan Pinchbeck will talk about The Chinese Room’s journey from unknown indie outsider to fully-fledged, sustainable studio.

• Kostas Zarifis – Kinesthetic Games – will reflect on his unsuccessful Kickstarter campaign and what developers need to do to avoid his mistakes.

• Elaine Reynolds – Simteractive – will remind indies they need to have their business and creative hats on if they want their studios to be a success.
