THQ’s internal studios have started work on four new and secret projects, says company president Jason Rubin.
The publisher has been cancelling projects left and right for the past eight months, but with $210 million in overhead shed and the first profitable quarter in years, THQ is off its back foot and back to the business of making games.
"Beyond our announced titles, in the last 60 days, all four of our internal studios began working on new titles that represent the type of product we believe will make THQ successful in the future," Games Industry International reports Rubin as saying.
"I’ve been focusing primarily on upcoming projects including Darksiders 2, South Park: The Stick of Truth, Metro: Last Light and Homefront 2, as well as the titles being developed by Turtle Rock Studios, Collision, Crytek and Patrice Désilets."
While refusing further details, Rubin said his company was pursing further monetisation options within the PC market and digital platforms such as Steam.
The news comes a day after it was revealed that THQ had cancelled Guillermo del Toro’s Insane, a Lovecraftian horror series by the award winning director of Pan’s Labyrinth.
