He departs to pursue new opportunities outside of the business” with his last day being on April 20th. He joined the company in 2008.
HMV is in the process of recruiting a replacement.
"I’m going to miss HMV and the great people that work there, but having achieved what I initially set out to – to develop their PPG offer, I feel the time is now right for me to move on and seek a fresh challenge,” Baxter said of the news.
It’s always sad to leave any business with such a heritage, but at least I know I’m going at a time when things have thankfully stabilised for the company and with their games offer on the up again."
Head of technology and games Ewan Pinder added: "On behalf of HMV and the Games team in particular I would like to thank Martin for his invaluable contribution to the company during the four years that he’s been with us.
We’ll certainly miss his passion for HMV and for our Games offer, and we all wish him the very best in his future endeavours."
