MICROSOFT is planning a huge marketing push in promotion of November’s release Gears of War 2.
And the platform holder has told MCV that on top of the big-name shooter, it has lined up ‘something for everyone’ on Xbox 360 this year.
Gears of War 2 was unveiled during Microsoft’s keynote address at last month’s GDC, and the publisher feels that it could become one of the biggest games of the year.
We’re very excited about Gears of War 2 coming exclusively to Xbox 360 this November,” said Microsoft UK’s head of gaming and entertainment Stephen McGill.
There’s no question that it’ll be huge but we are excited that, along with Gears of War 2, there are lots of fabulous titles on Xbox 360 this year, quite literally something for everyone.”
McGill also feels that the success of the original Gears of War, combined with a big marketing push, will ensure the sequel’s success. Gears of War delivered an unparalleled next generation experience when it launched in 2006, showcasing the awesome abilities of Xbox 360,” continued McGill.
It also became the most successful launch of a new IP on any platform, and sales still remain strong. As well as delivering a brilliant single-player storyline, it remains one of the most successful games on Xbox Live more than a year later.
