Insomniac: EA deal helps us â??reach more gamersâ??

Insomniac Games has today announced a new deal with EA Partners – all part of a new bid to reach a wider audience.

The deal will see the studio responsible for Ratchet & Clank and Resistance: Fall of Man develop its first multiplatform project.

Until now all of its games have been for PlayStation, PS2 or PS3.

Widening to include Xbox 360 will give it access to a wider audience of gamers, Insomniac CEO Ted Price told Develop.

“Our goal was to be multiplatform on this title from the beginning,” he said.

“We will continue to make games for Sony, but we want to reach more gamers. And the relationship with EAP allows us to do that.”

EA Partners boss David De Martini added: “We are well aligned in terms of creative collaboration. The EAP team does whatever it can in any small way to assist independent developers and do what they want to keep doing.

“Really, we’re the ones happy to be in the vehicle with these guys – they are doing the steering, the direction. And if they ask for directions or assistance we can provide that.

“But for the most part we’ll stay in the backseat and allow them to do what they have always done – create great entertainment, but which is now available to a wider audience because of their going multiplatform.”
