Java game specialist opens new portal community

Jagex launches FunOrb

Cambridge-based developer Jagex has launched FunOrb, its new web game portal.

The site features a wide range of games based on the company’s own Java gaming technology, as well as the obligatory social experience encompassing lobbies, league tables, achievements and instant messaging. The website can be accessed free-of-charge, although extra features such as additional game levels and achievements are only available to subscribers.

“For the first time, there is a generation of experienced gamers, turned young professionals, who want to play and be challenged, but are unable to devote large amounts of free time to gaming. FunOrb addresses this niche by blending quality entertainment with social functionality, offering players of all levels a complete social gaming experience,” said Geoff Iddison, Jagex’s CEO.
