In celebration of its first birthday in Japan, Famitsu has published firm Japanese sales data for Xbox 360 motion camera Kinect.
And the truth is the numbers aren’t very good. In total the device has sold 114k at Japanese retail. That represents fewer than one in ten Xbox 360 owners in the region.
Kinect’s best month in Japan was December 2010, when it nearly doubled the sales of its first month by shifting 43,200 units. However, after selling 14,800 units in January 2011 it has only once since passed monthly sales of 5,000, with September 2011 sales falling as low as 1,900.
And only one Kinect game has shifted in excess of 25k units – Kinect Adventure, which has shifted a total of 114k.
Here’s Famitsu’s Kinect games sales chart, as published by Andriasang:
1. Kinect Adventure: 114,000
