Mass Effect 3 estimated at 1.5 million units sold

Cowen & Company’s VP Doug Creutz has estimated some 1.5m in console sales recorded during Mass Effect 3’s launch month of March 2012.

Creutz described the release window as ‘challenging’ for the title in an investor note via GameSpot.

The analyst also reaffirmed Michael Pachter’s recent predictions that software sales for March dropped from the year prior. Cruetz notes claim total software unit sales were down 24 percent year-over-year, with similar dips expected in April and May as well.

Mass Effect 3 shipped for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on March 6th in North America and March 9th in Europe, hitting 3.5m units shipped in a hurry. EA had previously deemed the conclusion to the sci-fi action trilogy as the ‘best game BioWare has ever made.’

The free Mass Effect 3 Resurgence Pack has just arrived for the title, with DLC in the form of an Extended Cut planned for the summer.
