Mauricio Pochettino is the face of Championship Manager 17

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has been named as the cover star of Square Enix’s Championship Manager 17.

The traitorous swine* Pochettino appears as the licensed front for the F2P iOS and Android game, which is released today.

The title features over 450 clubs across 15 countries and 25 leagues, as well as a new 2D match engine and assistant manager tutorial. Squad data is also accurate up to the 2016/17 season.

There’s an infographic, too, which can see below the following self-indulgent paragraph.

*It may be that one of MCV’s editorial team is a Southampton fan. It may also be that said editorial team member is still very bitter about the nature of Pochettino’s departure from the club, what with it coming after a long period where the Argentine had said he was happy to sign a new contract, and that contract was waiting on the table, and everything was fine until Spurs came in for him and he handed in his notice on the VERY SAME DAY. Nor did it help that Pochettino’s appointment was announced in almost same breath as Nigel Adkins’ sacking. That’d be the Nigel Adkins who had guided the club to two successive promotions and was loyal to the last. Saint Nige. Oh and Poch has since raided the club for Alderweireld and Wanyama. Fortunately, said editorial team member is in no way bitter. MCV’s official stance, of course, is that Poch did a fine job for Southampton and has since proved his credentials with a remarkable season at Spurs that in no humiliatingly crumbled to dust right at the death.
