The MCV awards are now only six weeks away, which means I really should get on with working out what I’m going to say to greet the great-and-good of the industry come the 9th of March (suggestions welcome!). Suffice to say that besides my own small input, the event is coming together nicely. A great venue, a great host (more on that soon) and what should be a great night for all.
The important thing, of course, is the awards themselves. Having trawled through hundreds of entries across the 22 industry-judged categories, we finally got the shortlists out to the judging panels late last week.
This year, we’ve decided to make public who’s on the judging panels for reasons of transparency. You can see the full list on the MCV Awards 2017 site now. With big hitters from retail, distribution, publishing, marketing and more, every aspect of the business is well represented. We’re incredibly proud of the caliber of our judges and we thank each of every one of you for taking part.
Publicising our judges is just the first step though, and we plan to go much further next year, completely reorganising the categories and criteria for starters. While many of the entries contain confidential commercial information, we’re unable to recommend the full public disclosure of all entries, but we will be making the process clearer and yet more transparent.
We also plan to make sure the awards are a genuine force for best practice in the industry, by engaging with the winners, and their winning ways, in a far greater manner than previously.
