PERSONNEL NEWS

DISNEY: Roy takes retail role

Long-serving UK games PR Manab Roy has moved to a new role at The Walt Disney Company.

Previously UK and Ireland PR manager for video games, he now takes up the role of PR manager for retail.

His new responsibilities include working with retail and trade marketing teams to create PR campaigns across the entire company. These will involve brands in all of Disney’s categories, such as consumer products, theme parks and games.

It’s going to be an exciting new challenge with the cross-category focus and greater involvement with franchises like Pixar and Marvel, but it is going to be strange not working with the media I’ve known for so long – great people who play as important a role in the industry as anyone,” said Roy.

He joined Disney in 2009 after leaving Ubisoft.

Roy’s games duties will be taken by senior PR manager Claire Stocks-Wilson and PR manager Melissa Herman.

ICEBERG: New PR manager hired

European PC publisher Iceberg Interactive has hired Marcela Koster as PR manager. She previously freelanced for Benelux games magazine Power Unlimited.

Iceberg already feels like a second home for me,” said Koster. The team is so close that it’s just like being part
of a family. We only sign games that we personally like to play, that are affordable for everybody and are of good quality.”

UMBRA: Finnish journalist joins middleware firm

Finnish middleware specialist Umbra Software has hired games journalist Thomas Puha. Puha is known as the founder of Finland’s leading games magazine Pelaaja, which started in 2002.
