Microsoft developing Cortana for Android, iOS – report

Microsoft is reportedly developing its digital assistance program Cortana as a standalone app for Android and iOS.

Reuters reports the app is expected out on Google Play and Apple App Store in the fall, sometime after the launch Windows 10.

The report cites people familiar with the project,” and adds that the move is in line with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s goal of bringing services where its customers are, regardless of platform.

The firm introduced Cortana as a rival to Apple’s Siri service in April 2014, and it arrived later on last year for Microsoft devices. In January, the company detailed that the digital assistant will be fully integrated into Windows 10.
