Nintendo and Dark Horse to publish Arms graphic novel

After the success of its Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia books, Nintendo and comics publisher Dark Horse have announced a brand-new graphic novel centred around its family-friendly fighting game, Arms.

Illustrated by Joe Ng, thegraphic novel is set to arrive in Fall 2018 and willlikely explore the game’s rather bizarre lore, which Nintendo was only too happy to fuel over on social media.

The news comes ahead of the New York Comic Con and The Nintendo World Championships 2017, where players from around the world will battle against each other in a variety of games to become this year’s tournament winner. Given its prominence at this year’s E3, Arms is likely to be one of the headline titles on the tournament roster.

An Arms graphic novel isn’t the only new Nintendo-themed collaboration Dark Horse has announced recently, however, as just last week it also confirmed a third Legend of Zelda book that will complete the so-called Goddess Collection, this time in the form of a huge encyclopaedia.

Due to release on April 24th 2018, The Legend of Zelda: Encyclopaediafollows the New York Times bestseller The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia and The Legend of Zelda Art and Artifacts books, and is available to pre-order in the UK now.

The 320-page tome will provide a comprehensive look at the series’ first 30 years up to the release of Twilight Princess HD, with detailed entries for the series’ enemies, items, potions and more. Dark Horse says it will also expand on the lore touched on in Hyrule Historia, and will also contain concept art, screenshots, maps, and an exclusive interview with series producer Eiji Aonuma.

Dark Horse has also published several Nintendo-related art books, including The Art of Fire Emblem Awakening, and The Art of Splatoon.
