Outcast dev acquires IP from Atari

Appeal S.A, has purchased the rights to Outcast from Atari Europe.

The 1999 PC game was published by Atari, but was originally developed by Appeal.The terms of the deal have not been made public.

Studio founders Yann Robert, Frank Sauer, and Yves Grolet are planning a revival of the sci-fi action franchise, which put users in the shoes of an ex-Navy SEAL escorting a team of scientists to an alternate dimension to prevent a US probe from causing a black hole.

Other members of the team, including the game’s designer Bruno Bonnell, were not mentioned in the press release.
