Former Capcom director of production spent four years spearheading Sony’s indie self-publishing campaign

PlayStation VP of third-party relations Adam Boyes returns to development

Adam Boyes, one of the key figures in PlayStation’s promotion and support of indie creators, is to leave the platform holder and return to making games himself.

Boyes spent more than four years at the PS4 parent, most recently as VP of third-party relations and the developer technology group, working with studios to help them self-publish on the console.

He confirmed his departure on Twitter, explaining: “After an incredible journey here at PlayStation, I’ve made the very hard decision to return to the world of game development.

“The past four-plus years have been an absolutely amazing experience.

“The best news is that we have an incredible team here so the development and publishing community and gamers are in great hands.”

Boyes previously served as director of production at Capcom for three years, before leaving to lead consultancy Beefy Media as president from 2010 to 2012. He also held a position on the directorial board of Payday and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons studio Starbreeze.

He revealed scant details about his future moves, but responded to a suggestion that he was moving to Xbox or Nintendo by revealing his plans to “make games on the independent side”.
