PS4 Dragon Quest Metal Slime Edition sees Sony hardware sales rocket in Japan

A limited edition version of Sony’s PS4 saw the console increase sales by a factor of five week-on-week in Japan last week, Famitsu data reveals.

Sales of the machine climbed from 13,040 to 64,017 units in the week ending December 14th following the launch of the Dragon Quest Metal Slime Edition.

Sony’s machine still fell short of the New Nintendo 3DS XL, however, which itself saw sales jump by over 25k units to 77,889.

Elsewhere, there was Western success in the software charts with the PS4 version of Grand Theft Auto V debuting in fourth place.
