Ahead of Sony’s debut unveiling of the PSP2 later this week, further details about the device have emerged in the Japanese press.
Nikkei, as reported by Andriasang, believes that the handheld will include some sort of 3G mobile connectivity – as revealed exclusively by MCV earlier in the month.
It adds, however, that 3G phone calls will not be an option. Instead, much like with Amazon’s Kindle e-reader, the 3G function will be used to downloading content on the go. And in the case of PSP2, online multiplayer.
In Japan carrier DoCoMo has been signed up for the service.
In addition, Nikkei reports that the PSP2 will include an ultra-sharp OLED touch screen as well as a bespoke Sony processor designed for portable HD visuals.
