Double honours for the decorated British studio head

Realtime Worldsâ?? Jones victorious at IoD awards

Realtime Worlds founder David Jones swept two top honours at the Institute of Directors Awards last night.

The experienced studio head was presented with a Regional Director of the Year award, as well as the overall Director of the Year award.

Jones picked up both awards in front of more than
300 winners, finalists and assorted guests at the gala held in Edinburgh.

“It is enormously flattering to be shortlisted amongst such distinguished company, but to be awarded Director of the Year is something else entirely,” said Jones.

“When we founded Realtime Worlds in Dundee in 2002, we were, and still are, astounded by the fabulous game development talent available to us in Scotland.

“These awards are graciously received on behalf of everyone that has contributed to the company’s success.”

The IoD Director of the Year Awards event launched in 2004 by IoD Scotland to recognise and celebrate excellence at director level within the private, public and voluntary sectors.

David Watt, IoD Scotland executive director, said: “As the founder and creative director of Realtime Worlds, David’s intuitive feel for the computer games market and his understanding of marketing and ability to develop strategic alliances has made his company a true global player in this lucrative and growing business. On the back of worldwide recognised games such as Grand Theft Auto, Dundee is now regarded as a global hot spot for this section of the IT world, attracting businesses and skilled programmers from all corners of the globe to Scotland.”

This year’s event was backed by the likes of The Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust, Edinburgh Napier University and the Scottish Government.
