Resident Evil 6 to land in cinemas September 2014

Sony Pictures and Screen Gems have confirmed that Resident Evil 6 is on the way and will be in cinemas on September 12th2014.

There has been no confirmation that Milla Jovovich will return as Alice or that Paul W.S. Anderson will be back in the director’s chair.

The box office revenue made by the last film, Resident Evil: Retribution, suggests the studio will be keen to bring them both back on board as, despite poor reviews, Retribution became the 2ndmost financially successful film in the series last year with a worldwide gross of $221m.

The Resident Evil film franchise has proved itself to be the most financially success video game movie series to date since arriving in 2002.

Retribution saw Alice take on the Umbrella Corporation in one of its own research facilities used for testing the T-virus, as Earth brimswith more infected nasties than ever before.

That film ended with a cliff hanger set at the White House so, although it’s full title is yet to be announced, here’s hoping for Resident Evil 6: President Evil.
