Publishing giant claims notice of closure was 'sent in error'

Rock Band iOS ‘will not be cancelled’

Rock Band for iOS has not been dropped by EA despite users receiving a service cancellation message, the publisher has said.

Customers had reported that upon starting the game, they received a message stating the title was set to shut down on May 31st, and would no longer be playable.

But a statement from the company sent to Cnet has now claimed that the message was sent out in error, and the game will carry on as usual.

"Rock Band for iOS will remain live – the in-app message users received yesterday was sent in error," read the statement.

"We apologise for the confusion this caused. We’re working to clarify the issue that caused the error and will share additional information as soon as possible."

An FAQ notice on the company’s website has also been deleted, after it suggested EA would suspend support for Rock Band after May 31st, and would “focus resources on other EA titles”.
